Dandelions on rust

Dandelions on rust  is painted on the lid of a wooden fruit crate which is made up of two pine panels which slot together, giving the piece a rustic, unique look.  The piece was inspired by pattern – I wanted a flat, graphic repeat motive – and also by African tribal masks – the colours and the tufts of hair.
